Structural Projects

Flow Consulting Engineers has the capacity to handle small or large structural projects. Our capabilities are described in the following projects which we have completed.

Residential & Commercial

Design and documentation of new residential and commercial single and multistorey buildings.  FCE completed the structural design and documentation of the Heitman residential premises for Nordic builders in Dongara in September 2019.  FCE work on this multi storey residential premises (with a build cost of $1.4M) included retaining walls, suspended slabs and beams, steel, and timber beam design. FCE also completed the structural design and documentation for the upgrade to the Geraldton Bus depot for Transperth, commercial ANZ bank Geraldton branch refit for Lendlease in September 2018, extensions to City of Geraldton Civic Centre and offices, Highbury secondary school campus buildings upgrade Geraldton, TAFE, Dewson’s and Coles Geraldton supermarkets.

Industrial

Design and documentation of large industrial sheds from steel.  In March 2020 FCE completed the structural design and certification of 3 large steel framed sheds with measurements 17m wide x 18m long, 17.5m wide x 17.5m long and 17.5m wide x 21.5m long for Them Earthmoving. FCE designed the new heavy plant workshop including gantry cranes for Maicon Engineering.  Design of workshop bridge cranes for Tronox and JMR Engineering.

Mining

In October 2020 FCE have provided detailed design drawings to rectify buckling and reinstate the structural integrity of Ramelius Resources Mt Magnet Gold Mine ROM bridge which supports a 62.5t Cat 988H front end loader.  FCE have also previously designed a reinforced concrete traffic slab for the bridge.  In May 2020 FCE completed a similar condition report and load rating design review on EMR Golden Grove primary crusher loading bridge which supports a Cat 988K front end loader.  In August 2020 FCE completed inspection and load rating of 4 traffic bridges at Shark Bay Resources Useless Loop mine site.  Design work at Shark Bay included design of replacement suspended concrete deck panels for Borals bridge, which is a heavy traffic bridge.

Satellite antenna and defence work

In 2020 FCE were engaged by Firemore Holdings Pty Ltd to complete footing design and documentation for the WASC SSC Space Australia 13m full motion satellite earth station antenna at the Satellite Laser Ranging Station (SLRS) located at Yarragadee Western Australia.

In 2018 FCE were engaged by Firemore Holdings Pty Ltd to undertake geotechnical investigation, foundation and reinforced concrete pedestal design and documentation for 13m,16.4m and 7.3m Satellite Earth Station Antenna’s at the SLRS.  Following completion of the geotechnical reports and design drawings FCE throughout 2019 assisted Firemore Holdings Pty Ltd to monitor earthworks and check steel fixing for the antenna foundations and pedestals being constructed.

In 2018 FCE were engaged by BARPA to undertake an investigation of site conditions and provide a written report verifying the foundation assumptions detailed on WOOD & GRIEVE Engineers Drawings for Department of Defence projects to install primary and secondary satellite antennas with geospatial intelligence capabilities at Christmas Island & RAAF Base Tindal.

FCE assisted ICON during 2019 with civil and structural support for the Milcon Combined Communications Gateway Project at the Australian Defence Satellite Communications Station (ADSC).  FCE have completed civil and structural drawings for 3 x 12m antenna footings, IFL trenches, concrete civil works and control room building roofing and wall cladding to assist with the project.  FCE also completed steel fixing inspections as requested.

In 2017 FCE were engaged by Boeing Defence Australia Ltd to complete a geotechnical investigation at the site proposed to install a 9m satellite dish at the ADSCS.  The geotechnical report was used to assist Boeing’s Engineers with the concrete footing design for a 9m satellite dish.  The project is known as Project Volleyball.

Public Infrastructure

Design, documentation and contract administration of numerous public coastal and gorge lookout and walkway structure facilities. Walkways and lookouts designed and documented for Department of Environment including Eagle Bluff and Cape Peron at Shark Bay, and the Loop, Hawkes Head and Z bend in Kalbarri National park. Design of 3 separate concrete floodway’s in 2020 for the Shire of Meekatharra. Design and documentation of the Rat Island jetty for Fisheries WA.
